Natural: Between Life and IT (tentative)
インターネットやAIといった情報通信技術をはじめ、テクノロジーは大きく進歩し、私たちの生活は豊かなものとなりました。しかし、テクノロジーの進歩は分断や格差、ネット社会の軋轢など、「生命」と「IT」のあいだに壁をつくり出しています。NTTのパビリオン『NTT Pavilion Natural 生命とITの<あいだ>』では、そんなアナログとデジタルの境界を無くし、世界にひそむ様々な「壁」を無くした世界を表現します。
現在、NTTでは光技術を活用した新しいネットワーク「IOWN（Innovative Optical and Wireless Network）」を次世代のネットワークの標準にしようと、世界中の様々な企業と共に取り組んでいます。大阪・関西万博では、最新の情報通信技術「IOWN」が目指すバーチャルを超えた未来の世界を提案します。
NTTは長年にわたり、情報通信の企業としてコミュニケーションを大切にしてきました。しかし、複雑化する社会のなかで、これまでのコミュニケーションのあり方が大きく問われています。「人と人とのコミュニケーションはどうするべきなのか」「これからどんな社会になるのか」、その行き先を提示したい。そんな思いから『NATURAL』というテーマを設定し、誰もがあるがままに幸福に生きられる世界を描きます。例えば、独自開発した耳を塞がないオープンイヤー型イヤホンで特定の人にだけ言葉や想いを伝える「テレパシー」の体験や、3D空間そのものを転送する技術など、これまであった「壁」を無くした世界を体験することができます。
パビリオンでは４つのコンセプトを中心に構成され、『拡張するパビリオン』『生きているパビリオン』『一緒につくるパビリオン』『循環するパビリオン』という４つの視点で、来場者と一緒につくり上げていくパビリオンを目指します。
複雑化する社会。テクノロジーが発展し便利になる一方、世界の「壁」は増え続けるばかり。そんな今だからこそ、壁の無い世界とその先の幸福について、NTTのパビリオンで考えてみませんか。
The progress in information and communication technology such as the Internet and AI has enriched our lives. However, technological progress builds walls between life and IT in the form of divisions, disparities, and friction in our digital society. The NTT Pavillion Natural “Between Life and IT," aims to break down the boundary between analog and digital and express a world where there are no walls.
Currently, NTT is using optical technology and working with various companies worldwide to make a new network called “IOWN" (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network), the standard for next-generation networks. At the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, NTT will suggest a future world exceeding virtual reality with the latest information and communication technology, IOWN.
As an information and communication company, NTT has valued communication for many years. However, in this complicated society, the previous way of communication is being questioned. “How should human beings communicate with each other?" and “What is the future of society?" are questions we aim to address. That's why we decided on the theme “Natural," envisioning a world where everyone can live happily just the way they are. For instance, visitors can experience a kind of telepathy and share words or thoughts to a specific person using our proprietary open-ear headphones. Or they can experience technology that transfers entire 3D spaces, somehow removing existing walls.
The NTT Pavilion is built around four areas: “Expanding Pavilion," “Living Pavilion," “Collaborative Pavilion," and “Circulating Pavilion." Our goal is to create a shared space together with the visitors encompassing these four areas.
In a complex society where technology advances and convenience increases, the walls in the world keep multiplying. Now, more than ever, let's think about a world without walls and the happiness beyond them at the NTT pavilion.
